Do I have to trim my pillow buttons?
In borders and as bedding border the Kissenaster is just as much used as a grave plant. The higher-growing varieties are also good as a cut flower for the vase, as well as the closely related to them smooth leaf.
The annual pruning
Although the Kissenaster is considered easy to clean, but a regular cut is doing her pretty well. If your cushion has blossomed, then you can cut the plant by about a third, in the late fall just above the ground cut off. This promotes the re-emergence in spring and a rich bud formation.
Forget the pruning once, this is not a drama, but never cut, then sooner or later your cushion will set or reduce the flower. Higher-awake varieties, like the related smooth leaf-blades, are prone to extinction, even with a timely pruning.

If you divide the plants about every two years, your pillows will always bloom abundantly and the plants will stay healthy. However, a cutback does not replace the division.

The mostly white, pink or purple flowers fit perfectly in colorful bouquets. By regular cutting you promote a renewed budding. In a sunny spot the cushions bloom very luxuriantly, where the colors also shine much more intense. In a mild area and in good weather, you can enjoy it until November.
