In which season is cherry laurel planted?
The cherry laurel is very easy to care for - except for a regular pruning, occasional fertilizing and additional watering in drought, no great care measures are necessary. As with many shrubs, autumn is the ideal season for planting, especially if you have purchased root-bare cherry laurel. The shrub then barely sprouts and puts all the power into rooting. It grows very well and begins to grow vigorously in the spring after planting.
While root-bare laurel cherries can be planted by the end of September, you should plant bales already at the beginning of September. Since the cherry laurel evaporates over the large leaf area even in winter water, it is important that the fresh roots have completely penetrated the bale until frost.
Planting in the spring
Alternatively, you can put the laurel cherry in the spring. Root-bare shrubs should be brought into the soil as early as possible so that the root system grows well up to the growing season. The less sensitive container goods can be planted until May, as these shrubs have a higher proportion of fine roots and thus can absorb more nutrients.
