For the laurel cherry to form dense hedges and at the same time to develop well, the shrubs must be set at the correct distance. Only then does the shrub not take up too much space over the years and harass the neighboring plants.
Strong and rapid growth
When planting the cherry laurel you must not ignore the enormous vigor of the evergreen shrub. Many species reach stature heights and widths of three meters and more. In small gardens, you should therefore only plant slowly awake varieties, which will not take up too much space in the garden with regular pruning.
The planting distance for hedges
Since a hedge is supposed to grow you have to put the bushes close enough. At the same time you should not fall below a certain minimum distance, so that the individual shrubs bushy flourish and not press each other. Please note:

Since cherry laurel grows very quickly and can grow up to fifty centimeters in height and width every year, you need to plan enough distance to fences and buildings for pruning. How wide the cherry laurel is you can see the information on the plant label. Calculate at least fifty inches of space to the maximum width, so you can easily walk around the bush when pruning.
