Kalanchoen are among the succulents, a plant family that can store a lot of water in their thick-fleshed leaves. The fluid requirements of the various species is rather low, which makes them very easy to care for plants.

The Kalanchoe is sparingly poured during the growing season whenever the substrate feels dry.
Flowering Kalanchoen like the hardy Lieschen should be kept evenly moist but not too wet. Therefore, water them a little more often than their flowerless relatives.
