The melon is not the melon variety with the strongest aroma among the sugar melons, nevertheless the fruits are appreciated by many connoisseurs because of their sweetness and the honey-yellow color of the pulp.
The cultivation should start early
Usually, honeydew melons are grown in warm locations such as Iran or the Canary Islands, which is why they are sometimes referred to as "Yellow Canary Islands". So if you want to plant honeydew melons in this country and also harvest ripe fruits, you must start sowing the seeds in the spring. Only if you prefer the honeydew melons on the window sill in April and plant them in the open air or in a greenhouse in May, you will be able to harvest fully matured honeydew melons in late summer and autumn with good care.

The roots of all melon species are relatively sensitive to any transposition right after the germination phase. Therefore, when sowing, you should always place two seed kernels in a spring pot or in a rotatable plant pot in order to later leave the stronger seedling in it and replant it completely with the usual substrate. You should not put the seedlings in the spring in sunny weather, even in the blazing sun, but only for several days to get used to hours of the stronger sunlight. When buying seeds, be careful not to use hybrid varieties, as these are generally not suitable for further propagation.
