The lush white umbels show up between May and June. In autumn, the foliage of this hornbeam species turns bright red, which gives a nice contrast to the black-blue, small stone fruits. By the way, the variety 'Midwinter Fire' shows a particularly interesting autumnal color play.
White dogwood (Cornus alba)
Between May and July, the White Dogwood - sometimes referred to as the Tatar Dogwood - displays its pretty, creamy white flowers. Depending on the variety, the fruits may be white to bluish in color. The wide upright shrub stains its otherwise green foliage in the autumn yellow to red.

Japanese dogwood (Cornus kousa)
Japanese flower dogwood is cultivated mainly for its distinctive floral decoration. The actual flowers are quite unimpressive, but are surrounded by four large, white bracts and are therefore very noticeable. The strawberry-like fruits are pink-colored.
Cornelian cherry (Cornus officinalis)
The bright yellow flower of the Japanese Cornus appears very early in the year. Already in March / April show the conspicuous umbels, whereby the strong autumn color of the rather slender and narrow tree is a real eye-catcher.
Yellow Dogwood (Cornus mas)
This dogwood also fascinates with its bright yellow flowers, which appear even before the leaves are released between March and April. The yellow dogwood is a native species of cornelian cherry.
Pagoda dogwood (Cornus controversa)
The pagoda or even floor dogwood is mainly due to its pyramidal growth.
Dogwood (Cornus florida)
Similar to the Japanese Dogwood, the American Dogwood Blossom also inspires with large, beautiful white flowers.
Dogwood Rug (Cornus canadensis)
In contrast to the other dogwood, this species is not a tree or shrub, but a groundcover - but with the typical for this group of plants flowering and autumn coloration.
Tips
Particularly exotic in this country are so-called flower dogwood bars, which include the Japanese dogwood as well as the Chinese dogwood or the American flower dogwood.
