How to properly care for Geißbart - tips and tricks
The Hohe Wald-Geissbart, often called only Geißbart, is quite modest, quite easy to care for and is one of the wild shrubs. The young sprouts are considered a delicacy among gourmets and bees like Aruncus dioicus, the Latin name.
The right floor and the best location
As a forest dweller, the goat's beard likes a shady or partially shaded location, but can handle almost any soil. However, he prefers a moist and humus soil.
The Hohe Wald-Geissbart can grow to about two meters during flowering. Of course, he takes up a lot of space. Do not plant the shrubs too close together or next to other plants. About a meter away is recommended. Suitable neighbors are, for example, forest bellflowers, astilbe or thimble.
Watering and fertilizing forest goatfish
It is best to fertilize young plants during planting in the spring with well-rotted compost, after which hardly any fertilizer is needed. Unless your garden soil is very nutrient poor. A pruning of the complete perennial is recommended in late autumn. Prune your goatee quietly generously to the ground. The strong roots will sprout new in time in the spring. If you do not want to have an empty garden in winter, leave the decorative flower panicles and cut back your plants in early spring.
