Our gardening tips for February
Far from any weather forecasts and ground coffee readings, we have consulted to the phenological calendar, which is oriented not in the traditional four, but at ten seasons. Phenology, an ancient Greek science that is also the subject of the German Weather Service, investigates long-term the periodically recurring developmental characteristics of the free nature and derives therefrom certain events and sequences of the so-called pointer plants.
Instead of relying on a fixed date when gardening, certain works are based solely on the nature observed over many years. Unlike the calendrical or astronomical seasons, the phenological ones do not set the most distinctive garden appointments exactly to the day, but update them year after year and according to the climatic region.
