Where only with the many garden waste?

That's where something comes together, especially in the autumn that is coming to an end, and many landowners are faced with a real challenge at the latest when it comes to the leaves that fall from the street trees. And to say it straight away: The burning of garden waste, the last big hedge trimming and the deciduous mountains of the first autumn storms, you should really think only if you are sure that it is not prohibited.

The regulations of the state laws and the own municipality find information, if and when a garden fire is allowed. If at all, these waste may only be burnt on weekdays between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, in light wind and with consideration of the neighborhood.

Exemptions are rarely granted in practice, so you will not be able to avoid recycling your garden waste yourself or driving it to the nearest composting facility or municipal waste collection center. No question that self-composting is the cheaper and more convenient option. And the foliage is actually too good a dump to dump on a landfill, because it is a valuable, organic fertilizer that does not only the plants very well, but also the animals. Toads, hedgehogs and insects will be happy to use their heaped heaps of leaves in the coming months. Insects ensure that the brown leaves are completely decomposed and simply fertilize the garden soil.

Branches and branches become high quality compost

We have already reported in a separate article on how best to create a compost heap and use almost all accumulated garden waste. Coarse material should, however, be crushed before it gets on the compost, and can even be used as an additional drainage layer for a raised bed. What has to be considered and from which individual layers the back-friendly plant containers are made, we have also prepared for our readers in the form of a quick guide. If a lot of tree trimming occurs over the year, the purchase of a shredder is recommended. After shredding, twigs and branches can be composted excellently and form a high-quality insulating layer, which promotes the rotting of the remaining material.

Grass clippings become mulched fertilizers

Even though lawn mowing in November is one of the exceptions, the mowed grass will not have to pile on garden waste the next year, but may lie directly on the grass floor. There, the grass clippings act as a natural fertilizer, as it decomposes on its own and thus the nutrients removed by the mowing remain right where they are needed. In addition, in the summer months, the chopped grass mulch ensures that the evaporation of water from the soil is reduced and the grass surface evaporates more slowly.
