Extracting offshoots from the frangipani is possible in two ways. Either you cut cuttings or you sow the houseplant also called Plumeria. Which method works best and what you have to consider when breeding offshoots.
Which method is recommended for offshoots?
If you already own a frangipani, you should try to remove cuttings from cuttings. This method is much easier. In addition, the plants then often bloom after just one year.
Offspring of Plumeria, which you have extracted from seeds, take a long time to flower before the first time. Also, it is not sure what color the flowers will later have.
Extract offshoots from cuttings
The best time to cut cuttings is early spring. Use woody shoots with a length of about 25 centimeters.
Sow frangipani
Allow the seed to swell in lukewarm water for at least one day as this accelerates germination. Prepare culture dishes with cultured soil or coconut fibers. Sow the seeds thinly. Cover it lightly with substrate only. The wings of the seed still have to look out. Moisten the substrate slightly.
Cover the culture dish with a plastic wrap. Place the seeds in a bright, warm place. Ventilate the film regularly, so that nothing can mold.
After five to eight weeks, the seed should have germinated. Once the plantlets are one to two centimeters high, you can separate them. Later, pot the young frangipani into normal flowerpots.
Breeding in a bag
Slightly more quickly pull off offspring seeds when using the germ bag method. To do this, fill a plastic bag with perlite. Moisten the substrate. Sprinkle the seeds and seal the bag airtight. After two to four weeks the seeds germinate and can be planted later.
Tips
You can occasionally buy cuttings from Frangipani at the garden shop. These cuttings are sealed at the interface with a wax layer, which must be carefully removed before rooting.
