Vinegar trees are considered a curse and a blessing at the same time. Their fall colors are breathtaking, but they quickly develop into a plague. So that does not happen, you should pay attention to different aspects when planting.

Vinegar trees grow magnificently in sunny places and also thrive in partial shade. Ideal is a sandy soil with high permeability, so that no waterlogging forms. The nutrient content plays a minor role. Pay attention to the pH value, because the calcareous soil does not tolerate strongly calcareous soils. For tub plantings the same conditions apply.

Since the roots are prone to sprouting, especially when cut on the bush, it often leads to uncontrolled proliferation. To prevent spreading, plant a root barrier into the soil when planting. Lower a bottomless stone vessel or a bottomless rain barrel in the plant hole. The root barriers should provide enough room for the shrub so that it can spread well in the first few years. Older trees should be regularly lighted. Cut off bald branches and pay attention to root shoots.
