Potting Meow every orchid
If there is talk of orchid earth, it is not commercial potting soil. Orchids thrive on plants of primeval giant trees. With their numerous aerial roots, they cling to the branches and remove the vital moisture from the rain. Consequently, the tropical plants in soil can not survive.
The main component of orchid soil is bark pieces to simulate natural conditions. Inorganic additives, such as lava granules, expanded clay or zeolite, ensure airy permeability. Organic aggregates such as sphagnum, coconut fibers, peat or nutshells provide valuable nutrients. When orchids are planted in potting soil, rot and disease are inevitable.
