Pull peanut plant indoors or outdoors yourself
Although peanut plants originate from very warm regions, they can be grown in cooler countries if conditions are good. What to look out for if you want to grow your own peanuts in the garden or greenhouse.
Use the right seed
Obtain your peanut seeds best in the specialized trade. You can also use the untreated kernels from the supermarket, but germinate much worse.
There are now breeds in specialist stores that thrive quite well even in cooler temperatures.
Pouring a peanut plant yourself is worthwhile if you can provide enough light and warmth. In northern regions, you should try a try only in the greenhouse.
Peanut plant in the pot
Since the peanut plant has a very long growing season, you should prefer the seeds in the pot on the windowsill or in the greenhouse.
Fill it with good, loose garden soil. Make sure that there are enough drain holes, because waterlogging does not tolerate peanuts at all.
Cover the seeds with two to three centimeters of soil and place them in a warm and sunny location.
Pull peanut plant under glass
If you grow the peanut plant in the conservatory or greenhouse, plant it in a larger pot as soon as the plant has developed several pairs of leaves.
If you also want to harvest peanuts, choose a wide, deep bowl. Peanuts grow on inflorescences that sink into the ground next to the plant.
Pour only moderately and place the peanut plant as sunny as possible. At temperatures around 30 degrees, the peanut thrives particularly well.

The peanut harvest
The peanut harvest starts after 100 to 130 days, when the soil temperatures were evenly high. In the field, peanuts are ready for harvest from September.
Tips & Tricks
If you live in a region with a very mild climate, you can sow the seeds of peanuts directly from May into the field. It is important that the soil temperature does not drop below 18 degrees. Therefore cover the peanut seeds in the first weeks at night.
