Most varieties of scented jasmine were not originally toxic. However, many hybrids and hybrids have mixed toxic and non-toxic species, so many of today's shrubs contain toxins.
Fragrance jasmine - poisonous or not?
What is certain is that the original forms of scented jasmine have been non-toxic. If you have a reliable nursery nearby that specializes in the cultivation of old species, you may get some non-toxic shrubs.
If you know nothing about the particular variety, you should exercise caution when planting scented jasmine. The shrubs and especially the plant juices may contain essential oils that cause inflammation even when in contact with the skin.
Always wear gloves when cutting and keep children and animals away.

In contrast to real jasmine, scented jasmine, also called peasant jasmine or false jasmine, is native to our latitudes. The ornamental shrubs are hardy and suitable as a single shrub or hedge planting.
