How to use Dendrobium Kindel for reproduction

What to do if a child sprouts?
Out of the blue, small roots and leaves sprout on a Dendrobium bulb, where we actually expect flowers. Anyone who is surprised by this gift for the first time, rightly wonders how to proceed now. How to do it right:
There is no hurry to separate the child from the mother plant. As long as the stalk is still green, the offshoot is supplied with water and nutrients. Slowly inhale the bulb, cut off the baby with a sharp, disinfected knife. Make the cut about 2 cm below the aerial roots so that a small piece of the nut stalk dwells on the offshoot.

After the separation of mother-orchid, you immediately pave the offspring. For this purpose, fill a small, transparent culture pot with a fine-grained pine bark substrate. If the aerial roots are still too small to support, use a mix of coconut fiber and lava granules.
The care program for a daughter plant is no different from adult Dendrobium nobile - with one exception. Until a vigorous system of aerial roots and leaves has developed, put a transparent hood over the potting pot. The humid-warm micro-climate generated in this way simulates the natural rainforest climate, so that a child can survive this delicate phase unscathed.
Tips
If a Dendrobium nobile drives off Kindel at a young age, this can be an indication of root rot. The mother plant sees itself threatened in its existence and strives on this way for its continuance. In case of doubt, spread the orchid to examine the root ball for waterlogging. Timely repotting in dry pine bark substrate can save mother and daughter plant.
