The Anturie gets brown leaves - what to do?
In good substrate and in the right location, Anturias develop magnificently, driving deep green leaves and new flowers almost all year round. If the conditions are less ideal or there are mistakes in the care, it may be that the ornamental plant suddenly gets yellow and later brown leaves.

The right location
As an epiphyte plant, the flamingo flower needs a lot of light, but it does not like direct sunlight and reacts to the yellow or browning of the foliage. Preference should be given to an absonned window or shade the flamingo flower on sunny days.
Wrong substrate
Anturias do not form a widely distributed root ball like many plants, but a main root shoot with small Nebenwurzlen, similar to those of the orchid. The roots need a lot of light and air. On the other hand, compact potting soil does not like them and the flamingo flower gets brown leaves.
If this is the cause of leaf discoloration, place the plant in orchid soil or mix the potting soil with polystyrene balls or expanded clay.
Too much poured
Anthuriums are very sensitive to waterlogging. If too much is poured, root rot often occurs. Due to the damaged root system, the plant can barely absorb liquid, the leaves turn brown and dry.
In this case, transplant the plant as quickly as possible and remove the decayed root parts. Water much less in the future and only if the substrate feels dry after the thumb sample.
eutrophication
The flamingo flower, like all plants, needs nutrients, but at the same time it is quite frugal. If fertilized too much, it acknowledges this error in the care with brown discolorations. It is sufficient to supply the plant every fortnight with half the dosage of a commercially available liquid fertilizer.
Tips
Yellow or brown leaves look ugly. Although the anturie usually does not need to be cut back, you should cut it off with a sharp knife.
