The growth of the blue cypress
Few hedge plants are as fast-growing as the blue cypress. The conifer is quite slender, but it shoots very fast in the air and can only be kept in check by regular cutting.
Fast growth and considerable height
Blue cypress trees are now available in numerous varieties. Some of them can reach considerable heights of up to 25 meters within a few years.
The decision for a blue cypress or a hedge of false cypress will be well considered.
Without regular cutting, there is a risk that the conifers will not only become very tall and wide, they will gradually lose their shape from below and get many brown spots. It then no longer provides sufficient privacy.
Tips
The growth habit of the blue cypress is columnar or spherical depending on the variety. For hedges, the column shapes are suitable. As solitary plants, the spherical cypress trees look very decorative.
