Everything at the right time - fertilize cyclamen

Fertilize shortly before and during flowering
Unlike most other shrubs, cyclamen are fertilized from July / August until March. This is the period of their heyday when they need a lot of nutrients. Otherwise, the flowers do not last long.
If these perennials stand in the pot, they receive a fertilizer every 2 to 4 weeks (at the latest every 8 weeks). If they are outside in the bed, it is sufficient to fertilize them every 2 to 3 months. In general, as soon as new leaves and flowers are visible, fertilization is possible.
Summer time is rest and close season
In summer, the cyclamen has its rest period. Then it should ideally not be fertilized. The fertilizer would probably harm him. But if you insist on beautiful leaves that do not turn yellow, cyclamen can fertilize sparingly even in summer.
Usually the rest period lasts for at least 8 weeks. It starts in April / May and ends in June. After the rest period increases the pouring frequency and also the fertilizer is slowly screwed up again.
Which fertilizer is suitable?
For cyclamen in the pot a conventional liquid fertilizer is a good choice. But manure in a stick form is also suitable. It is advisable to apply the fertilizer in a weak concentrated manner and to mix the liquid fertilizer into the irrigation water. On the other hand cyclamen in the garden should rather be supplied with compost or another organic fertilizer.
