Sow zucchini directly in the field
From mid-May zucchini can be sown directly in the field. The soil and air have then warmed to a favorable 12 - 14 degrees and offer the best conditions for germination and growth of the young plants.

Garden market and online shipping offer Zucchini seeds in great variety. All varieties are also suitable for sowing in the field. So it can be sown, what tastes and optically pleases.

Where to sow
You can sow the zucchini directly into the vegetable patch in a sunny location. It must take into account the high space requirements. A plant takes up about 1.5 to 2 square meters. On the large area it is convenient to mark the seed.
Prepare the bed
To provide the plants with nutrients from the very beginning, compost is loosely raked underground. At a distance of 80 cm you dig with the plant iron about 3 cm deep holes.

Sowing is possible from mid-May to the end of July. Late sown zucchini are less productive.
The young plants
If several plants develop per sowing point, they must be separated. Only the strongest plant is left standing. It should have about 3 - 4 leaves. Important for good growth is regular watering.
The young plants must be protected from snail. You can use slug pellets, snail fences or snail collars. To protect against hail and late frost, you can cover the plants with plastic hats or garden fleece.
Implement plants
If you want to implement the young zucchini plants again, you have to keep a planting distance of about 1m. The best planting time is when there are at least 4 leaves on the plant.
Tips & Tricks
As an alternative to the large vegetable patch is a smaller bed on which you raise the small zucchini plants only. Here, the distance when sowing can be reduced to about 20 cm.
