Pour a lemon tree properly: How to find the optimum measure

To water a lemon tree so that the plant gets exactly what it needs is not that easy. Because lemons are quite demanding in terms of watering: they do not like dryness, but too much moisture does not get them. Therefore, it is important to find the right measure.

Water the lemon tree daily in the summer

To prevent waterlogging, you should ensure proper drainage in the plant pot. This is not really difficult, you just need to add some expanded clay to the lemon soil and pack a layer of pebbles on the bottom of the pot. In addition, there should be no reservoir in the planter or on the plant pad. Even if waterlogging is less than optimal, you can water your lemon tree daily during the growing season until the water comes out of the planting hole. Heavily dried plants, which were not poured for several days, should, however, be taken out of the plant pot and dipped with the whole root ball in a bucket filled with water. In winter, only a little water is poured.

Tips & Tricks

Like almost all citrus trees, the lemon tree does not tolerate calcareous water. Therefore always use lime-free water for casting, at best rainwater. Tap water should be able to stand for at least a week.
