Help! Why does the ornamental flower not bloom?
Already the whole spring one waits for it, that the ornamental tube shoots like an arrow from the ground and presents its fabulous blooms in May / June. But sometimes you can wait long for the flowering time, among others, when the ornamental lily does not want to bloom.
Bloom loss - especially in large-flowered and large-growing varieties
It is not uncommon that the ornamental-rose after a few years does not want to bloom anymore. Many gardeners complain about this already 2 to 3 years after planting. Especially ornamental garlic species with large flowers and long flower stems are affected. This includes, for example, the well-known giant ornamental onion.

There can be many reasons for the lack of flowering. These include, among others:
Rare and common causes
Rarer is a disease infestation behind the missing flower. More often, pests are the cause. Ornamental lily is occasionally of aphids. Snails, black-backed weevils and onion flies haunted. Two more common causes are wetness and nutrient deficiency. When wet, the onion will rot quickly. Nutrient deficiencies can be helped if the yellowing leaves are removed too soon. The onion extracts important nutrients from them.
Dig up bulbs and change location
Of course, starting from scratch is not nice. But if it does not work out, it's the best solution. The onions are dug up and planted in November to a new location. Pay attention to several points, so that the flower starts again in the plants.
