The pase temperature for the dragon tree
The dragon tree is one of the most popular indoor plants in Europe and is occasionally used as a greenery on the balcony during the summer. However, temperatures in Central Europe are far too low in winter for a lasting outdoor culture.
This exotic likes it warm
Most of the species of the dragon tree are already very sensitive to temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius and can sometimes quickly hang the leaves. The Canary Dragon Tree (Dracaena draco) is considered an exception, as it also copes well with winter temperatures around a value of 10 degrees Celsius. The other dragon tree species, however, are then uncomplicated and easy to care for when cultivated at about 18 to 24 degrees Celsius.
Carefully choose the right location
Given the optimal temperatures, the sill seems at first glance to be the optimal place for a dragon tree. However, here are some of the factors that make the Dragon Tree quite annoying:
Locations with many hours of direct sunlight each day are rather unsuitable for dragon trees, with subspecies with rather reddish-colored leaves still tolerating a very bright spot rather than dragon trees with pure green leaves.
Tips
To ensure that dragon trees feel at home as well as at their natural locations, you should ensure the highest possible humidity. For this you can regularly wet the leaves of the plants with a fine spray of water that is as low in calcium as possible.
