Preferably cut in spring
In the fall, no suitable time to cut back ornamental grasses. The main reason why it is not recommended, is that through the cut stalks wetness can penetrate, flow down and can lead to rot in the root area. It is better to cut back in the spring between mid-February and (at the latest) in mid-April - before the plant is re-planted.
