Frankincense plants are ideal balcony box plants. The most variegated foliage provides interesting color combinations. The long tendrils are also well suited for hanging baskets. Sensitive people should abstain from using incense plants on the balcony because of the strong odor.

Complete dryness does not get the frankincense plant. Therefore pour them regularly penetrating. Do not place the pots or balcony boxes on coasters so that irrigation water can run off and there is no waterlogging. In the care in the flower basket the frankincense plant needs a lot of moisture. Frankincense hibernate or not?
Frankincense plants are very sensitive to frost. They must be wintered in the house frost-free. Ideal are bright rooms with temperatures around 12 to 14 degrees. Just put the whole balcony box in the winter quarters.
During hibernation, the frankincense plant is only sparsely fertilized and no longer fertilized.
Since for many gardeners wintering the frankincense plant is not worthwhile, it is usually drawn only one year.

Frankincense plants are quite easy to propagate through cuttings. Simply cut off long shoots, divide into individual pieces and place them in pots.
Propagation from seeds is possible, but takes a long time. Besides, it's not that easy to get seeds.

The incense plant is not the incense tree used in the Catholic Church. The plant bears her name because it smells similar to real frankincense. But these are two completely different plants.
