When does Privet drive?

Twice a year, the privet grows properly in size. The first shoot is particularly strong, the second is much less pronounced.

First budding in the spring
The first budding starts in early spring. If you want to cut back and rejuvenate the privet, you should therefore use the time before budding. Cut the shrub from February to March.

Second shoot from May
It takes a few weeks after the first shoot, until the privet has sufficient strength for the next boost. It starts at the end of May, but is much weaker than the spring shoot.
From now on you should not cut back the privet so much. The shrub itself does not matter that much, but it is prohibited almost everywhere, as the breeding season of the birds has begun.
The second shoot is over at the end of June. From now on you can cut the privet back into shape.
Privet does not expire
