Sometimes the Lantana shows its colorful flowers until quite late

The lantana is not impelling - what to do?

Lantans are not hardy and must therefore be wintered in the house. After hibernation, the small shrub usually begins to drive vigorously in the spring, starts new leaves and soon forms numerous flower buds. But what to do if the lantana does not turn out as hoped but remains bare?

Lantans sometimes drift late

Often, other plants overwintered in the house are already fully in the juice and drift vigorously while the lantana is still asleep. Carefully scrape the branch with your fingernail. If plant juice comes out, you can be pretty sure that the lantana will soon fail. All you have to do is be patient.

Bad ties in winter quarters

The fact that the plant rotates so late, sometimes it can be in early June until the first fresh green shows, is often in less than ideal conditions in winter quarters. Optimal would be a not too dark room in which constant temperatures between five and ten degrees prevail. The root ball of the Wandelröschens should never dry out.

A pruning stimulates the shoot

To stimulate the renewal you can cut back the lantana a bit. Remove all apparently dead shoots and cut the twigs about one-third.

Move to the field

Unless night frosts threaten you may place the lantana outside. The altered conditions often cause the plant to drive and quickly form dense foliage. However, make sure not to place the lantana immediately in the sun. Place the small shrub in a sheltered place for the first two weeks without direct sunlight. If late night frosts are announced, the lantana must be brought back to the house overnight.

Tips

Lantans are sensitive to lime. Therefore, water the plant all year round with decalcified water or use soft rainwater.
