The Strelitzia is not hardy. It can handle absolutely no frost. Even temperatures below 10 ° C paralyze their growth. If the thermometer reading is between 0 and 5 ° C, this tropical plant will be weakened so that it can enter.
Therefore, you should cultivate this plant only as a houseplant in the pot. When the temperatures in September / October are around 12 ° C at night, it's time to put the parrot flower in it.
Make a change of location
If you want to enjoy your Strelitzia every year, you should overwinter it. This is a change of location advisable. Was the greenhouse outside over the summer? Then it should be put in the fall. The wintering location should be bright but cool.
Suitable wintering locations
