The black-eyed Susanne (Thunbergia alata) is a beautiful climbing plant that can grow up to two meters high. The perennial plant is respected in this country usually one year old and seeded in the spring. What you need to know to pull the black-eyed Susanne from seed.

There are several varieties commercially available that differ in flower color. Black-eyed Susannen are filled and unfilled in the flower colors:

If you have already grown black-eyed Susannis in the garden, you can harvest seeds from the flowers to multiply them and grow new plants next spring.
So collect the seed
If you want to collect the seeds of the black-eyed Susanne, do not cut off all the withered flowers. Leave a few flowers to form seed pods, in which the seeds ripen.
The capsules turn dark when the seeds are ripe. You can test the maturity by pressing the seed capsules. Mature seeds then pop out. They are round with a recess and resemble a little small bowling balls.
To collect the seeds, either place your hand around the seed pods before cutting them, or put the capsules in a plastic bag so the seeds are not thrown out.
From February, the black-eyed Susanne is sown
In order to grow new plants, the seeds are sown on the warm windowsill starting in February.
The germination time is up to three weeks. Then the plantlets are separated and the tips cut off for better branching.
Since the black-eyed Susanne is not hardy, she may only move into the open at the end of May.
