There are two methods that can be used to multiply the slightly poisonous Schönmalve, by sowing and cuttings. Propagation through cuttings is more common because it is particularly easy.
Propagation by sowing
The ideal germination temperature is around 18 degrees. Avoid strong temperature differences.
Once the seed has spread, remove the foil or glass once a day so that the soil and later the seedling do not become moldy.
After emergence, the small Schönmalven are individually placed in small pots. Place it in a sheltered place where it is warm and bright enough.
Multiply beautiful mallow by cuttings
Cuttings for propagation cut best either immediately after the first shoot or in the summer. Pick out half-woody shoots. They are best rooted.
The individual cuttings should have a length of about 15 centimeters. Remove the lower leaves and any buds.
Prepare small pots with potting soil. Make for loose soil. If necessary, mix with some sand or peat.
