The yarrow flowers very long
The flowering time of the yarrow
Common Yarrow or Common Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) often grows along the edges or in meadows. The edible medicinal plant also represents a visual enrichment in the garden bed with little care.

Unlike many other perennials, the yarrow flowers quite persistently for several weeks, depending on location and weather a little earlier or later in the period from May to September. The plant is botanically a daisy family, which can lead to irritation of the skin and other intolerances in sensitive people. Due to the so-called "Trugdolden" the white varieties of the yarrow are occasionally confused with quite poisonous double-leaved from the Umbelliferae. These "doubles" include, for example:
Nursing for a second flower
If the yarrows have flowered relatively early in your garden and have already withered, you can stimulate a second flower in the same year by timely cutting off the old flowers. This care measure for a renewed flower formation can also be done well with a harvest of plant parts for use as a medicinal plant.
Leave blooming plants in the bed
Even after flowering, the stems and flowerbeds of yarrow have some impressive stability. Therefore, some gardeners also like to leave it as a decoration in the bed during the winter and only remove it in the spring.
Tips
If you want to promote particularly large and flower-rich flower plates in your yarrow in the garden, then you can cut off weaker shoots on the plants in the spring or "cut out" with your fingernail. So the plants concentrate their growth energy on a smaller number of stronger shoots.
