The right care for the vinegar tree
Although the vinegar tree is considered to be an easy-care shrub, it needs care every now and then. Water and fertilizers are necessary only in certain situations. Cutting and wintering are also easy. There are differences between potted plants and outdoor plants.

Vinegar trees are undemanding as far as their care is concerned. If the conditions of the site are right, the wood will develop magnificently without great care. Only in very long-lasting dry periods, the shrub is grateful for an irrigation. Under normal conditions, the proportion of water in the soil, which the root system uses extensively, is sufficient.
Container plants should be watered more regularly so that the substrate is continuously moist. Waterlogging does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should pay attention to sufficient drainage in the tub and to a well-drained substrate with a proportion of sand.
Fertilize
Its widely branched and flat root system serves to remove water and nutrients from the substrate over a large area. Therefore fertilization is also not necessary. To help with stagnant growth, you can fertilize the vinegar tree with compost between April and August, which is distributed on the tree-pulley. Avoid getting into the substrate as this could damage the flat-running roots. At the open root points it can come to budding. Alternatively, nettle slurry is suitable as a fertilizer.
To cut
Cutting measures are not necessary. Often they promote the development of unwanted impulses. Bald branches can be cut out of the crown all year round. A pruning reduces crowns that are too high or wide. Vinegar trees should not be cut back too far in the old wood. Although the woodland is again driving at the interfaces, the shoot approaches are often unstable and thus susceptible to wind breakage.
When cultivating the bucket, a regular shape cut is required so that the vinegar tree does not get out of shape. The shrub tolerates regular cuts without problems and drives quickly out again.
