Red clover is one of the robust wild plants that can be easily grown in the garden - whether as an ornamental plant, for harvesting animal feed or the pretty flowers for the kitchen. Red clover can multiply or sow via roots. This is how the sowing works.
Which location is optimal for sowing?
Red clover is undemanding and makes no great demands on the location. This is the optimal location:
If the soil in the garden is too acidic, mix some lime underneath. Waterlogging does not tolerate waterlogging like almost all plants.
When is the best time for sowing?
In the field, you can sow from April to the end of August. Remember, however, that you need to water more often in the summer because the seeds and later the seedlings will dry up.
Sow red clover in the pot
Sowing in the pot is not a problem if you use the deepest possible pot. The plant gets very long tap roots. Window boxes are not suitable for sowing red clover.
Use simple, not too acidic garden soil. If the red clover is to be eaten later or fed to the guinea pig, make sure that you use uncontaminated soil.

Do not sow the seed too close to the loosened soil. Lightly press it and keep it moist. Red clover is a light germ and is not or only slightly covered with earth.
Depending on the weather, it takes up to three days to a week for the seeds to germinate.
In the field, you should pique the plants. A planting distance of 20 centimeters is ideal.

Red clover is a native, perennial plant that can cope with frost very well. Winter protection is not required.
Red clover feeds the leaves in autumn. In the spring, the meadow clover drives out again.
