Wilted flowers do not look nice and pose a health hazard to the plant
Cut off rose petals or rather not?
The magnificent blooming of fragrant roses delights the eyes of every passionate gardener. Too bad that this beautiful sight has an end sometime. Withered rose petals, however, should be better removed to counteract infection with mushrooms.
Cut off withered rose petals better
Wilted mushroom spores in particular provides a gateway, ergo as a source of infection and should therefore be cut back in time. However, especially with more flowering roses, this pruning is important, as it promotes the ability to remontieren - that is, the formation of new flowers in the same season. Roses have a great ability to regenerate, provided they are properly cared for. It is especially important to remove buds that do not open due to fungal infestation - in this case the spread of infestation must be prevented.
Tips
The cutting off of withered flowers should only be stopped if you want to gain seeds. In this case, the plant must of course be able to form rose hips and direct their energy into seed production. Keep in mind, however, that not all rose varieties have this ability.
