Roses - a variety of species and varieties for garden and tub
Roses are found in a variety of different flowers and colors. The flowers can be simple (with 4 to 7 petals), half double (8 to 14 petals), double (15 to 20 petals) or double (with more than 30 petals). Shapes are of flat, cup-shaped, pointed, rounded, rosette-shaped or pompon-like.
Which groups of roses are distinguished?
Different groups of roses can be distinguished, which differ more or less from each other not only in terms of growth habit, flowering and flower colors, but also in their demands and properties. But whether wild or cultivated rose, they all belong to the large rose family (Rosaceae).
Old garden roses
In this group, especially the cultivated roses known as Old or Historic Roses are counted, which existed as far back as 1867 - this year the first modern rose was presented with 'La France'. Incidentally, this classification does not apply to the individual breed, but to the group to which it belongs. Among the so-called Old roses include u. a. the French Rose (Gallica), the Damascus Rose, the Portland Rose, the Bourbon Rose, the Alba Rose, as well as the Moos Rose and the Noisette Rose.
Modern garden roses
This group includes the large-flowered shrub roses, which are also referred to as tea hybrids or Edelrosen and are bred especially for the cut. They produce only a few, but very large single flowers. The tufted shrub roses or bed roses indefatigably form much smaller, but very many flowers. So-called patio roses are tufted dwarf shrub roses, they are ideal for a tub culture. Furthermore, even dwarf roses and ground cover roses are offered.
