Does rhubarb need shelter for the winter?
The perennial rhubarb is one of the hardy plants. At the beginning of the cold season, the plant pulls its stems and leaves automatically into their roots. :
Separate winter protection is therefore not required in principle, with the following exceptions
Young Rhubarb in the bed receives a layer of foliage, straw or brushwood in the first year to protect against frosty temperatures. A pot is wrapped with bubble wrap so that the root ball does not freeze. A wooden base also protects against ground frost.
