Why is the autumn anemone cut?

In the vase, the autumn flowers are very decorative. Cut the newly flowered stems with scissors and put them in the water. Change the water frequently, then the flowers hold up to a week.

Cut out the blooms

If flowers on the perennial have faded, you should immediately reach for the scissors. By continuously cutting out the flowered inflorescences you extend the flowering time of the anemone hupehensis. It then always forms new flowers.

Remove diseased leaves

Anemone rust shows up through early discoloring and drying leaves. Cut off the affected leaves and discard them.

Cutting cuttings in summer

In August you can cut cuttings from the autumn anemone if you want to multiply the perennial. This has the advantage that you receive pure-bred Nachzüchtungen. Put the cuttings in potting soil so they can root. In the field, the young plants will not be allowed until next year.

Pruning in spring

Tips & Tricks

If the autumn anemone has grown too big, you should not just cut it down. Dig out the shrubs, divide them and reposition the pieces. This will multiply and rejuvenate the plants.
