As a rule of thumb, tilt the lawn mower with the petrol engine so that the spark plug points upwards. If a petrol mower tilts towards the ground with the spark plug, oil runs out. This air filter, carburetor and cylinder head are flooded. In the worst case, the device will not start.

Empty tank in advance
Even if you tilt your lawnmower in the proper direction, fuel may leak. This is especially true for a bulging tank. Plan the mowing so that the tank is largely empty before you tilt the unit. Alternatively, drain the tank with a suction pump before starting the scheduled maintenance.
Tips
If your lawnmower smokes blue, this is an indication that you have tilted the machine in the wrong direction. White-blue smoke always occurs when spilled oil burns. Some lawnmower models will already experience the problem if you mow with a slope of more than 15 degrees.
