A dead, bare or even "boring" tree can be wonderfully upgraded with a suitable Rambler Rose. These are climbing or climbing roses that can grow between three and five meters, depending on the variety.
What are rambler roses?
These are climbing wild roses or wild rose hybrids that are perfect for planting trees. Rambler roses are divided into two groups: The first group comprises more flowering varieties with stiff branches and more or less upright habit. Its flowers unfold from June to September / October. The second group includes only once or summer flowering varieties that climb up with long, flexible branches as spreading climmers on scaffolding or just grow into trees.

Rambler roses cover walls, fences and arbors as well as pergolas, freestanding arches or pyramids with the help of wooden or metal climbing frames. Instead of an artificial framework, however, a tree can also assume the support function. It is irrelevant whether it is a dead tree or a living tree.
Plant rambler roses properly
When planting rambler roses you should never place them directly on the tree trunk, as the plants, which grow up to five meters high, need a corresponding amount of root space. So choose a planting distance between stem and rose of at least 80 centimeters - this is especially true for flat-rooting trees that do not tolerate root pressure. The tendrils are led by ropes to the tree.
Location and care
The optimal location is sunny to light shade, with a heat accumulation should be avoided. The selected tree should therefore not have too bulky and dense canopy. All rambler roses bloom primarily on short shoots, which are created on the last year's long shoots. Regular cutbacks are therefore prohibited. Correction cuts are possible.
