If you are raising a bonsai from a local tree, you have to pay attention to meticulous care. This forms the indispensable foundation for a healthy tree and allows the bonsai to unfold its full splendor.

For most bonsai, a kind of winter protection is necessary. This varies from tree species to tree species and depends mainly on the severity of winters in your region. Outdoor bonsai must not be brought into heated rooms, as this reverses their hibernation and make them go crazy. Instead, the trees must be protected from frost and wind, but should overwinter in maximum light. Normally it is necessary to water daily in spring, summer and winter. In winter, the watering is reduced, since the trees have a much lower water demand during the rest period. Bonsai can only develop with regular fertilization. Prefer organic fertilizer, which is available as powder, granules as well as in small chunks and balls. Above all, the granules are recommended, especially because it is easy to see on Earth and thus you can see when a new gift is due. Inorganic fertilizer works quickly, making it hard to tell how much has actually been absorbed by the plant.

After a period of growth, the roots completely fill the shell. In a normal potted plant you would now transplant them into a larger pot in which they have more space for new root growth. The reason for repotting a bonsai is the same, only the method is different. After creating new space for fresh soil and root growth through rooting, the tree is planted back into the same shell.

The care cut gets the bonsai the existing form and makes it possible to improve its shape steadily and refine. Back plucking with fingers and pruning the first sprouting stimulates a second shoot that grows closer to the branch or branch, which in turn results in a bushier and fuller foliage.
