Looking for chanterelles in typical locations
Chanterelles are among the culinary delights that can be found and harvested completely free of charge in the wild. Because they have specific requirements for the soil and the environment, you can be guided by specific criteria in your search.
Chanterelles in sparse woods
In forest layers with shrubby growth of the soil, a search for chanterelles is rather futile. In contrast, light forests with mossy soils from May to October offer ideal conditions for discovering the gold of the forest along the way. During this typical harvest time of chanterelles they like to grow near spruce, fir and beech from the loose forest soil.
Tips & Tricks
The type of tree population affects the consistency of the chanterelles. For example, they are usually firmer in deciduous forests than in softwood forests.
