Although fruit trees can also be propagated by cuttings, sticks or even by seeds, refinement promises the fastest a fruit-bearing tree. What is "refining"?
The refining of plants refers to a form of vegetative propagation in which two (or even more) different varieties or mutually compatible species are put together. This is a scion - d. H. young shoots of the desired type of fruit - grafted onto a base. It is the rhizome of another fruit species or variety, but has the desired characteristics. The refining serves primarily the faster growth of fruit trees, but also the variety-pure cultivation. The latter would not be possible with many varieties otherwise.
The best time for finishing
Basically, refining is possible in every season. Only the pase technique has to be selected. During the dormancy in winter you can make a so-called travel treatment. On the rhizome, the base, you put parts of Reiser - this is the shoots of the noble variety - by copulation. When grafted in the summer, only one eye - that is a bud freed of leaf and petiole - is inserted into the previously opened bark of the pad. The procedure is called Okulation and is currently very popular in the finishing of fruit trees and roses.
You need it for refining fruit trees
In addition to one or more noble vines (you can also refine several types of fruit on a base) and a base, you also need the following tools and materials:

Edelreiser cut from the fruit tree whose variety you want to attract new. You can buy such a trip in a nursery or even cut it yourself. One-year-olds are most suitable for this, which are pencil-strong and not yet branched. Also so-called Wasserschosser are suitable, the buds should not be too far apart. The latter often indicates that the shoots have grown in a little exposed area of the tree. The cut in winter hibiscus can either be refined immediately or initially stored cool and dry so that they do not drive and are available at the desired date. Reiser for summer improvement by Okulation, however, are cut shortly before the appointment and freed with a pair of scissors or a knife from the leaves.

The term "rootstocks" refers to the rootstocks on which the noble varieties are placed. These documents finally determine the growth behavior and, depending on the variety, can be used for certain soils. Saplings shooting out of the ground next to the fruit tree can be dug out in winter and used as rootstocks. However, they later also form foothills, which are actually not desired. On self dressed seedlings can be refined again varieties of the same kind. They are usually fast-growing.

In addition to the two methods presented here, there are other methods of how a refinement can be made. However, anyone who has little or no experience with finishing is best served by copulating or eyeballing - these finishing methods are considered particularly simple.

When planting, first cut a bag into the bark of the pad, into which the cut-out eye of the scion is inserted. This process is carried out in the summer - mainly between July and August - whereby the processing base can remain in the garden soil - you graft on an existing strain, so to speak, only a new variety.
