Popcorn is always made from corn - but by no means is every corn variety suitable for popcorn. Perfect for fluffy, delicious popcorn are varieties with a thin, but very hard shell. These properties have only species that belong to the puffed corn or pearl corn (sometimes called popcorn). The production of maize with other maize varieties is only possible with poor results or not at all, since their grains are either too dry or too soft.

Dried corn for pets
Dried corn is also a healthy food for many pets. However, for this purpose you should not use puffed corn, but prefer vegetable or feed maize varieties such as Golden Bantam. However, feed maize is also edible for humans, as the biggest differences between these species are the size of the flasks (vegetable maize is larger) and the starch content (forage maize contains more starch). However, before corn is dried, it has to mature first. Corn has the right degree of ripeness when the grains are hard and dry - in other words, no longer suitable for raw consumption. Now hang the corncobs individually in a room-warm room (between 20 and 22 ° C) on a string.
