Perennial care in September
As part of the autumn replanting of your garden with perennials, it may be useful if you limit the spread of individual species. They use this strategy to significantly boost the growth of weaker plants. While the complete pruning of the plants or a mowing is preferably to take place later in the winter, the main task in autumn is to clean up the planting areas and to remove dried-on plant parts. Watering, mulching and fertilizing contribute to an often unwanted vitalization especially in perennial plants. Therefore, this work should be done only rarely and depending on the current plant growth and the weather. By moderate cutbacks, most perennial species may perhaps once again be stimulated to re-emerge or to re-flow in a temperate climate.
