Which diseases can afflict lovage?

A robust kitchen herb
Basically, lovage can be described as an extremely robust and little disease susceptible herb. It is usually healthy - regardless of whether it grows in the pot or in the field.
Beware of downy mildew!
Rarely, lovage is attacked by downy mildew, a fungus. Signs are yellowing leaves that later turn brown and fall off. The mushroom spores penetrate into the interior of the leaves. There the fungus of the plant robs nutrients, whereupon their leaves turn yellow. The underside of the leaf is usually covered by a whitish coating.
This happens quickly when the lovage is exposed to a humid-warm weather. This can happen, for example, in humid summers or when growing in the greenhouse. The solution: radically cut off and dispose of infected shoots.
Ramularia leaf spot
Another fungal disease that can occur in the Maggie herb is the Ramularia blotch disease. First, 3 to 8 mm large, round to square spots appear on the leaves. These are bright inside and outlined in light brown. Later, the spots flow into each other, the leaves turn brown and die.
Discolored leaves and dying of shoots?
Diving up discolored leaves and killing the shoots does not necessarily mean it is a fungal pathogen. The cause can be thrips. This is a fringed wing that sucks the maggot nut's cellular juice, causing the plant to die. Therefore, always search the plant for pests!
Avoidance of diseases
Weak and stressed as well as wrongly planted and mismanaged plants are more susceptible to diseases (and pests). From the outset you can avoid diseases on lovage.
