The most beautiful destinations for lavender blossom

The early summer is the right season of the lavender blossom. In particular, the fields of the southern French Provence are from May / June, a single violet to blue sea. From the month of the month of May, the beginning is made by the early-flowering Schopflavendel, which also flowers the longest of all varieties. From the beginning of June, the flowering period of the genuine lavender begins, which is mainly found in the mountainous regions. Shortly thereafter, the high-alert Speiklavendel begins to open its flowers. Lastly, the lavandin, which is typical of Provence, finally flourishes and from the middle of June flowers in a lush blue-violet tone. By the way, although Provence is the most famous area for lavender, but also in other Mediterranean countries there are extensive fields. Anytime a trip to the lavender blossom are worth about the Italian Tuscany or Greece. In addition, there are other growing areas in Spain (including in Mallorca), Croatia (especially on the island of Hvar) and in Hungary (Tihany Peninsula).

In Germany, lavender flowers much later than on the Mediterranean - it's usually not warm enough here in early summer. Most types of lavender bloom here from mid / late June, sometimes even in July. Furthermore, the local lavender flower is dependent not only on the weather (i.e., sunshine duration, drought), but also on factors such as soil condition and care. Lavender blooms only as lush and intoxicating fragrant when all conditions are right - the plant is a true sensitive and therefore would like to be treated with the utmost care.

Cut back your lavender vigorously towards the end of July / at the beginning of August at the latest, then it often blooms a second time.
