Do you crave the delicious feeling of pumpkin, the queasy feeling that the pumpkin seeds are too good for the garbage? Then simply plant the seeds in the bed or in the tub. So there is a rich harvest.
Cultivated in the house for vital pumpkin plants
On average, a pumpkin takes more than 100 days to mature. Under the local climatic conditions, the culture is thus quickly under time pressure. Experienced hobby gardeners prevent this circumstance by preferring the pumpkin seeds behind glass. Such a measure creates a favorable growth advantage over direct sowing.
At a constant temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, growth is now progressing rapidly. Within 1 week the germination starts. This is the signal to make the seedlings brighter and cooler at 18 degrees Celsius. After a total of 4 weeks, each pumpkin seed has been transformed into a vigorous little plant that now wants to get into the bed.

If there are no more ground frosts to be feared from the middle of May, the pumpkin seedlings are allowed outside.
On the balcony, large-volume vessels come into consideration with 60 to 90 liters of content. Of central importance is a drainage hole in the ground, above which a drainage of pottery shards or gravel is spread. Suitable substrate is nutrient-rich and well-drained. Commercially available vegetable soil is repaired with perlite or sand.
Tips & Tricks
The germination of pumpkin seeds can be felt with a trick noticeably. Take each core between two fingers and rough the peel with a file or emery paper. Then, instead of pure water, the seeds soak in a 2% potassium nitrate solution for 24 hours. Potassium nitrate is available for little money in every pharmacy.
