Is pruning of pumpkin useful?
If you want to grow many small pumpkins, the plant will not be cut back. The situation is different if you are looking for a giant pumpkin or at least several magnificent specimens. In this case, wait for the flower and then grab the pruning shears.
For each shoot, choose a female flower with a fruit base. Ideally, it is at least 1.5 meters from the root ball. All other flowers cut off except for two leaves. If you are targeting a record pumpkin, there will be only one flower left in the entire plant. Prudent amateur gardeners initially maintain a reserve bloom until the pollination is completed.
