Already in March you can start to prefer the cornflowers on the windowsill.
The cornflowers germinate quite fast and reliably. As soon as the second pair of leaves shows, it is recommended to separate the small seedlings. Each plantlet will now receive its own pot. The foil cover is no longer necessary. As before, the substrate is kept moist, but not soaked through.
Up to the icy saints, the cornflowers have developed into vigorous plants and can, as soon as no more night frosts threaten, be transplanted to their final place in the perennial flowerbed.
Direct sowing in the flowerbed
From the middle of April you can also sow the cornflower directly into the flowerbed.
Tips
It does not always have to be the expensive shells. Also suitable are old yogurt cups, in the bottom of which you can drill a small hole as a water drain. Lay a few small pebbles over it, so that the drain does not clog up, and then fill in the potting soil.
