Basically, all climbing rose species are more or less hardy, with some being much more robust than others. The most robust climbing rose varieties
The Dresden-based Saxon State Institute for Agriculture has tested a total of 76 different species of climbing rose in their four-year trial for their robustness and hardiness. The following varieties, including not only ADR roses, have been identified as highly recommended for their hardiness and resistance to disease.
Tips
Climbing roses cultivated in pots should, of course, no matter what kind of cultivar be packaged well against the frost and at best be placed on a base of wood or polystyrene.
