Real and downy mildew are among the most insidious plant diseases that can affect the cherry laurel. Numerous home remedies have proven in the fight against the fungi, so you do not always have to resort to the chemical club immediately.
Recognize mildew
Both variants of the fungus can be easily distinguished: The powdery mildew forms a fine white coating on the top of the leaf and in the late stage attacks not only the foliage but also the young shoot tips as well as the buds and fruits of the cherry laurel.
In the case of downy mildew, on the upper side of the leaves, there are pale violet, yellow or brownish discolorations. The gray mushroom turf is only recognizable on the underside of the leaves.
